This pill-woodlouse (to 12 mm) is similar to Armadillidium vulgare. However the narrow protruding ‘snout’ is distinctive, as is the dark grey body marked with pale longitudinal dashes that give a semi-translucent appearance. It forms an imperfect ball, with its antennae protruding, when disturbed.
